Kellie Pickler was born the 28th June in 1986 Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. Her parents are Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. Her mother was barely 16 when she became pregnant with her. It was a harsh childhood for Pickler because her father struggled with addiction issues for both alcohol and substances while her mother left her when she was only two. Morton returned to her custody for a couple of months, but Pickler confessed that she was not going well. "I recall that my mother and me were sitting in the same kitchen and I told her 'I'd rather die than be there with you. I'd like God removed me.' She pulled out a kitchen knife set it down on the countertop, and I was told, "Here, you do it." I was in the fourth grade. Sure, I'd never have acted upon it, but it's done some emotional wounds," she said. Pickler was given her grandparents by the court when she was 12. Morton failed to appear in the court hearing. Pickler was raised by her grandparents throughout her life, citing them as the primary influence in her life. Faye Pickler, the grandmother who raised her died of lung cancer in 2001. His grandfather was able to care for Pickler. Pickler was awarded her graduation diploma from the North Stanly, located in New London, North Carolina.
